Condate

Montereau-Canne (Miller) · Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Barrington)

On the map the name Condate is squeezed in along the end of the road from Melun, because the stretch that follows it is so short. It is Montereau-Fault-Yonne in France, where the Yonne flows into the Seine, and Condate is the Celtic word for exactly such a confluence, shared by several places on the map. Three roads met here, to Paris, to Troyes and to Sens, though the map leaves out the road to Sens. In the Middle Ages a monastery of Saint Martin stood where the rivers meet.
