Castra
Sour-Ghozlan, formerly Aumale (Barrington) · Aumale (Miller)
Castra, the camp, is all the map writes here, but the place is Auzia, Sour el Ghozlane in Algeria, once called Aumale. The Ravenna list has Auzunasta, apparently a garbled Auzu Castra, so the map seems to have lost the first word. Near this fort, which Tacitus calls Auzea, the rebel Tacfarinas was defeated and killed in AD 24. Auzia became a municipium and, under Septimius Severus, a colony, with a god of its own, Auzius, as its guardian. It was an important road junction near the Mauretanian frontier, yet on the map its road simply starts here.
