Castellum Fabatianum

Ksar Mahidjiba

Listen to the story

Castellum Fabatianum, a fortified settlement in Numidia, lay at Ksar Mahidjiba near Constantine in Algeria, on the road from Cirta towards Thibilis. On the map the road leaving it runs straight into a mountain range, whose base line doubles as the road line, perhaps because a careless copyist merged the two. The stretch to Thibilis is twenty-five Roman miles, while the distance back to Cirta is missing.
