Road station

Caspingio

Waspik o. Gorinchen (Miller)

Caspingio is Caspingium, a station on the road through the land of the Batavians between Tablae and Grinnes, somewhere among the rivers of the Dutch delta. Its site is unknown: suggestions include Waspik, Gorinchem, Asperen, Giessen and Tuil. The earliest editor of the map wondered whether its first syllable was short for castellum, a fort. Apart from the map, no ancient source names it.
