Carambas
? Fakas · Fakaz ?)
Carambas is Karambis, the great cape of Paphlagonia that juts far north into the Black Sea towards the Crimea. Opposite it, on the far shore, lay the cape called the Ram's Forehead, and the two headlands, Strabo says, pinch the sea into two basins; a ship needed a day and a night to cross between them. A Greek town of the same name stood here, perhaps near today's Fakaz. The map's spelling seems to be a late attempt to make a plural out of Karambis.
