Region
Paflagonia
Listen to the story
Paphlagonia was a region of Asia Minor, on what is now the Black Sea coast of Turkey, and on the Tabula it is a regional name written across the land rather than a stop on a road. It is one of four provinces the map names from the late Roman group of seven around Pontus, alongside Bithynia, Galatia and Cappadocia. The lettering hides a small slip: the middle letters are oddly crammed together, as if someone first wrote Pagonia and then squeezed the missing syllable in afterwards.
