Moesia Superior

Listen to the story

Moesia Superior, Upper Moesia, was the Roman province on the middle Danube, the part lying further upstream after Moesia was divided in two in the first century AD. Its lands lie mostly in present-day Serbia. On the Tabula the name stretches across a wide expanse of the map. The Greek geographer Ptolemy knew it as Upper Mysia and returns to it again and again in his work.
