Parria
Listen to the story
Parria is how the map renders Parthia, the land of the Parthians, Rome's great rival east of the Euphrates. The copying seems to have blurred the name, but the identification is not in doubt: a list of places compiled in Ravenna gives it plainly as Parthia. Behind both forms lies the ancient Persian name Parthava.
