Barsalium
Barsalium was a fort on the Euphrates in Lesser Armenia, in the district of Abarene between Melitene and Samosata; the geographer Ptolemy writes Barzalo and the Ravenna list Batsalium. It was long placed at Gerger, but an inscription there shows that Gerger stands on ancient Arsameia, so the site remains open. The map gives a long stage of forty-six Roman miles from Glaudia, and only nine on to Heba.
