Road station
Corvilu
Corvilu is the correct reading, not Corivlu: on the map the v is told apart from an i by its thick right-hand stroke with a little flourish at the top. The Ravenna list writes Gorbilon. Older research doubted that the name came from the camp of the Roman general Corbulo and preferred an Armenian word for warlike or mighty. The station lay on the road from Melitene to Amida, by the copper mine of Arghana Maden, thirteen Roman miles from Colchis and fourteen from Arsinia.
