Road station
Costa Bellene
Lacosta-San Remo [4] · Taggia [5] · Capo Don [Pleiades]
Costa Bellene was a station on the coast road of the Ligurian Riviera, somewhere between San Remo and Taggia. Older research placed it at the church of the Madonna della Costa above San Remo; newer finds point to Capo Don, where buildings with mosaic floors, graves and a baptistery have come to light, and where a milestone of Caracalla, now lost, counted five hundred and seventy-four Roman miles from Rome. The name may mean whale's rib, or it may honour the Celtic god Belenus. The distance on to Luco Boramni is missing from the map.
