Road station

Crixia

Piana Crixia [Pleiades] · Rochetta di Cairo [3]

Crixia was a road station in the valley of the Bormida di Spigno, on the road from Acqui to Vado; its name seems to live on in the village of Piana Crixia, though older research placed it at Rocchetta di Cairo. Because the ancient figures disagree, the site cannot be fixed: the map gives twenty-two Roman miles to Acqui, the Roman register of routes thirty, and the real distance is about fifteen. A milestone has been found on the way, at Ponti near Spigno.
