Arcamo
Harzem
Arcamo is probably Arxama, a town between Edessa and Nisibis that the historian Procopius mentions more than once in the Persian wars; a fort also bore the same name. Today the place is Harzem. A road branched off here to Edessa. The line onwards to Thamaudi, thirty Roman miles away, takes a strange course on the map: it swings sharply upwards across the Tigris, skirts a short mountain range, then drops back, crossing the river twice more before running on in a cramped vertical line.
