Aque Frigide

Aque Frigide means the cold waters, and the Latin is a straight translation of the local Aramaic name, Meiacarire, which also means cold water. The historian Ammianus notes that icy springs gave the place its name, and the Byzantine historian Theophylact knew it as Maiokariri. The ice-cold springs rise near Berman and feed the Göksu. The map counts seventeen Roman miles from Sammachi but gives no figure on to Arcamo.
