Arate

Ruinen von Aliabad (Miller)

Arate was a station on the road from Aris through the Carmanian desert towards Cetrora, near Yazd, a crossing for which caravans needed three or four days. It has been placed at the ruins of Aliabad, or at the resting place of Bagh-i-Asad, north of Deh-i-Seif and Khabis. The map counts twenty Roman miles, about thirty kilometres, from Bacinora, and seventeen on to Pharca. The Ravenna list has exactly the same spelling.
