Anabucis Presidium
el-Agheila? (Barrington)
Anabucis Praesidium, the guard post of Anabucis, lay on the coast road of Cyrenaica, twenty-five Roman miles east of the Altars of the Philaeni and thirty from Ad Puteum. It is perhaps el-Agheila in Libya. Older research thought Anabucis the native name, later revived, of the border fortress the Greeks called Automalax. The Roman register of routes and the Ravenna list give only Anabucis, without the word praesidium.
