Alauna

Aleaume bzw. Moitiers-d`Alonne (Miller) · Valognes (Barrington)

Alavna is Alauna, on the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy, in the land of the Unelli, at the end of the road that the map draws out onto the headland; no road leads beyond it. It is usually placed at Valognes or at nearby Aleaume, where Roman remains have been found, though Moitiers-d'Alonne on the west coast has also been proposed. The Roman register of routes runs a road from Alauna by way of Coutances to Rennes. Even the reading of the name is not quite certain.
