Acria
BAtlas 87 J2 Kazeka
Acria survives only in part: a tear in the parchment cuts through the name, and beyond it just the tail of the last letter and the stop remain, so older copies supply the rest. Some even wonder whether it belongs to the neighbouring name. Most likely it is Akra, a Greek colony and harbour near Nymphaeum on the western shore of the Cimmerian Bosporus, at modern Zavetnoe. Underwater archaeologists have found its harbour and town walls, with towers and wells, some seven and a half metres below the sea; the town was lived in from the sixth to the third century BC.
