Road station
Acunum
Montélimar
The pilgrim from Bordeaux lists Acunum as a mansio, an overnight stop, on the road down the Rhône from Valence to Orange; between it and Orange came the changes of horses at Novem Craris and Ad Letoce. The station lay in the land of the Tricastini, at Ancône near Montélimar. Whether it is the colony Akousion named by the Greek geographer Ptolemy remains open, and older research was divided on it. A milestone with the figure thirty-three, now in Nîmes, is linked with it.
