Ad Aquileia is not the great city on the Adriatic but a station on the road south from Florence, perhaps near Figline in the upper Arno valley or at Mugnana in the Chianti hills. The map leaves out the distance from Florence and gives only fourteen Roman miles, about twenty-one kilometres, to Biturgia, a place that cannot be located either. The geographer Ptolemy seems to know it as Ekoulia.
