Road station

Ad Basante

Bosut?, near Županja

Ad Basante was a station on the road down the Sava from Siscia to Sirmium, near Županja in Croatia, perhaps at Bosut; older research also suggested Šamac on the Bosna. The name may live on in the river Bosut, whose name goes back to an old Illyrian form Bassant-. On the map the distance from Marsonia is missing, some twenty-eight miles by older reckoning; on to Saldis the map gives twenty Roman miles.
