Ad Canales

nahe Campobasso [4]

Listen to the story

Adeanales is probably Ad Canales, at the channels, a station near Campobasso on the border between Samnium and Apulia, known only from this map. The name may point to water channels or conduits nearby, although the letters on the parchment clearly read Adeanales. The station lies eight Roman miles, about twelve kilometres, from Ad Pyrum and eleven from Bovianum, but the road line stops just short of Bovianum's picture.
