Ad Cephalon

Kale Otovičko, 2 km nö v. Bašino Selo

Ad Cephalon, at the head, the summit, suits its probable site: Kale Otovičko near Bašino Selo in North Macedonia, a high, flat-topped hill at the southern end of the Vardar gorge, above the road from Scupi to Stobi. Its summit is ringed by walls, and pottery and coins from the late third to the sixth century show a large fortified post of late Roman times. Others place the station near Veles, where the road crossed the river. The list of places compiled in Ravenna garbles the name as Ceflon.
