Acerras

Pizzighettone

Listen to the story

Acerrae, now Pizzighettone, was a fortified town of the Celtic Insubres that controlled the crossing of the Adda, a river the map does not draw. In 222 BC, after the battle of Clastidium, the Romans took and destroyed it; the Greek historian Polybius tells the story, and helmets from that time have been found here. The town was rebuilt and appears on the map as a station on the road from Lodi to Cremona.
