Ad Padum

nahe Calendasco [Pleiades] · Pievetta am Po [2]

Listen to the story

Here the map marks the crossing of the Po on the road from Ticinum, now Pavia, to Piacenza, and the station is simply called Ad Padum, at the Po. Where exactly the river was crossed can no longer be reconstructed, since the Po has moved; the map's distances point to Pievetta rather than to Calendasco. The twenty Roman miles it gives on to Piacenza may be a copying slip, perhaps for six.
