Acheon

Acheon was a harbour in the land of the Achaei, a people of the western Caucasus on the eastern shore of the Black Sea; other writers call it Old Achaea or the village of Achaea. Ancient authors believed these Achaei were Greeks who had left their homeland and been driven to this coast, and branded them as pirates who seized shipwrecked Greeks and sacrificed them. The map enters their people twice. Whether Pliny's harbour of the Achaeans is the same place remains open.
