Seracoe

Coroea

Listen to the story

Seracoe is the map's name for the Siraces, a people known to Greek writers, who lived in the steppe east of the Sea of Azov, below the Caucasus. The name is written in black rather than the usual red, which blurs the line between peoples and the many unconnected places around it. Scholars have argued it might even be a place, yet its letters are noticeably larger than those of the undoubted town names nearby, which suggests a people after all.
