A Comacenis in Heracome milia XIIII

Kızılkaya

Listen to the story

A Comacenis in Heracome is not really a place name but a whole line of Latin, meaning “from Comacenis to Heracome, fourteen miles”. It reads like a typical entry from a Roman road book, copied out in full on a road in Asia Minor. Probably, as at a few other spots on the map, the words were written out to bridge the long, empty stretch of road between In Comacenis and Heracome, which lie fourteen Roman miles apart.
