Thadute

(between Sitifis and Sigus) (Barrington) · Um el Asnam (Miller)

Listen to the story

Thadute stood where several roads crossed, between Casae and Ad Dianam, on the route from Sitifis to Sigus in Numidia. It is probably the Tadutti of the Roman register of routes, though that is not certain, and its site is sought at Um el Asnam near Ain Ksar, with a good number of Latin inscriptions linked to it. One small detail of the map: the d in the middle of the name is written as a capital letter. The road runs twelve Roman miles from Ad Sturnos and twenty-five on to Salviana.
