Road station

Sermanicomago

Les Bouchauds, Cm. St-Cybardeaux

Listen to the story

Sermanicomago lay on the road from Aulnay to Limoges. The name is damaged: a tear, which older research took for worm damage, has removed the fourth letter. A reading of 1591 and the engravings of 1598, 1682 and 1728 still show the name whole, but the edition of 1753 could only copy the damage. The name may be a slip for Germanicomagus. The station is placed at Les Bouchauds in Saint-Cybardeaux, where ruins with a theatre survive, though that would need a much larger figure to Cassinomago than the map's garbled twelve.
