Risapa
al-Resafa, الرصافة
Risapa is the Rezeph of the Bible, named in the Books of Kings and in Isaiah beside Gozan and Haran, and the Rasappa of the cuneiform inscriptions. Later the town was called Sergiopolis, and a late Roman register of troops stations a unit of locally raised cavalry here. The ruins of al-Resafa lie between Palmyra and the Euphrates. The map counts twenty Roman miles, about thirty kilometres, from Cholle and twenty-one on to Sure.
