Chullu
Collo
Chullu, today Collo on the Algerian coast, was famous for its purple dye works and was therefore probably founded from Phoenician Tyre. Under the governor Sittius it became a Roman colony bearing the name of Minerva, and later one of the four colonies of Cirta. Bishops are recorded here in 255 and 411, and a law of 445 seems to refer to customs dues levied in its port. The sixty Roman miles, about eighty-nine kilometres, that the map gives to Paccianis Matize really seem to cover the whole way on to Igilgili.
