Cercar lies on the inland road towards Leptis Magna and is placed at Ain esc-Scersciara in Libya, though older research looked for it on the Wadi al Demseid or at Kasr Doga. The map shows only the name on the road, twenty Roman miles from Flacci Taberna and fifteen from Subututtu. Between Cercar and Flacci Taberna the Roman register of routes names a stop called Megradi Villa Aniciorum, the villa of the Anicii, a family of Roman nobles.
