Ceperaria

Khirbet Zikhrin

Ceperaria was a station on the road from Betogabri up to Jerusalem, a city the map labels as formerly called Jerusalem, now Aelia Capitolina. Its site is uncertain; one suggestion is Khirbet Zikhrin. The map counts eight Roman miles, about twelve kilometres, from Betogabri and twenty-four on to Jerusalem. Near Betogabri two milestones were found that mark the second mile from Eleutheropolis, as the town was later called; one of them dates from 213.
