Cani

Kinnesrin oder Alt-Aleppo

Cani is most likely Chalcis, the Syrian city at Kinnesrin, or by another view at Old Aleppo, and if so it appears twice on the map, for the same city stands as Calcida on the road just above. The name itself is a problem: its third letter is so heavily inked that it is hard to make out. Older copies read Cahi, but a close look at the parchment suggests an n. The map counts twenty Roman miles from Teumeuse and twenty more to Bersera.
