Bannis

Listen to the story

Bannis lay in Cyrrhestica, a district of Roman Syria north-east of Beroea, the modern Aleppo, but its site has never been securely identified; one suggestion points to the ruins of Khirbet Annazi. The Ravenna list probably knows it as Bathnis, though older research warned against equating it with Bathna. The map counts twenty-seven Roman miles, about forty kilometres, from Berya and fifteen on to Thiltauri.
