Emma
Yenişehir
Emma is Immae, at the ruins of Imm by Yenişehir, which the geographer Ptolemy counts among the cities of Seleucis. Near here, not far from Antioch, the emperor Aurelian defeated Queen Zenobia of Palmyra, and Jerome's life of Malchus places a monastery in the desert of Chalcis, between Immae and Beroea. The map counts thirty-three Roman miles from Antioch and twenty on to Calcida, but draws the road apart from the one to Gephyra, although both places lie on the same route.
