Calatie
S. Giacomo delle Galazze [2]
Listen to the story
Calatie is Calatia, marked by the church of San Giacomo alle Galazze near Maddaloni, a small town that shared the fortunes of its mighty neighbour Capua: it went over to Hannibal with Capua in 216 BC and was punished with it. The poet Silius Italicus calls it Calatia of the little walls. Caesar settled veterans here, who after his murder were among the first to rally to the young Octavian.
