Ad Maiores

Henchir Bessariani

Ad Maiores lay at Henchir Besseriani in southern Numidia, the town of Nigrae Maiores, whose bishops are recorded. It is a road junction on the map: twenty-eight miles from Ad Medias, forty-eight on to Ad Palmam, and forty-two on to Ubaza Castellum, a figure written with a dot in the middle, XL.II. The Ravenna list simply calls it Maiores, and some Latin inscriptions from the site are known.
