Road station
Ubus flumen
Oued Seybouse
Ubus flumen is a station named after a river, the Seybouse, which crossed the road a short way from Hippo Regius. In antiquity the river did not yet reach the sea beside Hippo, as it does today: before the 11th century its lower course shifted, and its old mouth lay several kilometres further east, probably along the bed of the modern Khelidj. Ptolemy describes the river without naming it, with two lakes, and the Ravenna list calls it Ubus and Usussa. On the map the start of the next stretch is not marked.
