Scobaru
Ai Khanoum (?)
Scobaru is probably Eucratidia Oskobara in Bactria, the city excavated at Ai Khanoum on the upper Amu Darya in northern Afghanistan. The oldest coins and brick stamps found there bear the names of Seleucus the First or Antiochus the First, and the city later carried the name of the Graeco-Bactrian king Eucratides. French excavations from 1965 to 1978 uncovered a royal residence where the Kokcha meets the Amu Darya: a lower town by the rivers, a citadel on a table mountain, a palace quarter filling about a quarter of the city, a theatre and gymnasia, Greek forms blended with Persian ones.
