Dyzanas

Tuğ, Tatvan

Dyzanas, in the land of the Carduchi, is placed at Tuğ near Tatvan, and its name seems to come from a Persian word for a fortress or castle; a related Armenian word means an earthen rampart. The station lay on the road from Tigranocerta to Dagnevana. The map counts twenty-two from Cymiza, probably Persian parasangs, and twenty-seven on to Patansana. The Ravenna list names the place twice, once in Parthia and once in Lesser Media.
