Rana

Rigan oder Panggur (Miller)

Rana is a puzzle: it is not even clear whether the entry names a place or a people, and the map has a near twin, Rhana, on a second road leaving Bestia Deselutia. One explanation is that both are the same place, a junction where the two roads forked, entered twice; yet the Ravenna list, with Rana and Rainna, also seems to count two places. Older research linked the name with the Rhamnae, a people of Gedrosia, or called it a Gedrosian royal seat, and looked for it at the old ruins of Rigan on the Maskid river.
