Road station

Ranilum

? bei Orizovo

Ranilum, a Thracian name known otherwise only from the Ravenna list, was a station on the great military road from Singidunum to Constantinople. It most likely lay in the Imilka woods near today's Orizovo, where part of a milestone of Diocletian and Maximian, bricks, pottery, stretches of wall and the clay pipes of an aqueduct from a spring have been found. On the map it is marked only by a fork, where a road branches off to Berone. The twenty-seven miles given from Phinipopolis are too few for the real distance; perhaps a numeral has dropped out.
