Road station

Quadrata

St. Colombano südl. von Graffignano [2]

Listen to the story

The Po has shifted its bed so often since Roman times that Quadrata can no longer be placed: the map sets it seven Roman miles from Ad Padum, the station on the river, but that bank has long since moved, and the distance from the previous station is missing altogether. The name simply means square, and the suggestion of San Colombano al Lambro is thought very uncertain.
