Vocario

Pfarrwerfen? (Barrington)

Listen to the story

Vocario, which the Greek geographer Ptolemy calls Vacorium, was a station in the Salzach valley, probably at Pfarrwerfen, where Roman inscriptions have been found, on the road from Iuvavum over the Tauern into Carinthia. The map sets it seventeen Roman miles, about twenty-five kilometres, from Cucullae and seventeen from Anisus.
