Road station

Vignas

S. M. d`Oriente [3 · 4]

Listen to the story

Vignas, the vineyards, was the station where the Via Valeria, coming down from the pass over Monte Bove, entered the plain of the Campi Palentini before Scurcola, where vineyards still come close to the road; it may have stood at Santa Maria d'Oriente. The name is known only from this map, which confuses the roads here: from Vignae it runs on to Sublacio, although the road really continued to Alba Fucens.
