Vicus Aureli

(31 miles E Thamugadi) (Barrington) · an Hr-el-Aguni (Miller)

Vicus Aureli, the village of Aurelius, stood in Numidia, in present-day Algeria, where two roads met, one from Diana Veteranorum and one from Thamugadi, the Roman Timgad; on the map that junction itself marks the start of the road onward. Its site is uncertain, perhaps some thirty-one Roman miles east of Thamugadi; older research suggested the ruins of el-Aguni, and an attempt to place it at Henchir Fertas was rejected. The map sets it twelve Roman miles from Ad Lali and eighteen from Liviana.
