Vico Matrini

Le Capannacie

Listen to the story

Vico Matrini, the village of the Matrinii, lay at Le Capannacce on the Via Cassia, and its name probably comes from a local family: a grave monument of the Matrinii has been found here, and an inscription mentions the Matrinian potteries. Another records that the colony of Sutrium gave the villagers an aqueduct. Close by lies the Lake of Vico below the Ciminian hills, but the map has written their names on a different road by mistake.
