Temsa

Terravecchia (Miller)

Listen to the story

The name Temsa appears twice on the map, once here inland and once on the coast, and it is far from clear that both mean the same town. This inland one may really be Terina, a Greek city on the gulf of Sant'Eufemia near Nocera Terinese, which the Bruttii took by siege and which, as the Greek geographer Strabo reports, Hannibal later destroyed; the list of places compiled in Ravenna writes Terisa. Oddly, the map gives its distances but draws no lines to it.
